That was interesting Merv,I'll check it out more later. They used to call them Supertrackers and it's just not Suzukis,I have some photos at work I think, plus I'll check on some other sites too.I bet Owlmorris has the complete story, but he doesn't turn up here much, unless I bump him. They keep trying things to get away from the HD dominance,it needs to be like back in the old days, where you could see the bike you rode on the street winning on the Mile, not some hybred Harley you can't even buy over the counter, the RS750 Honda was the last one to take it to Harley, and the Yanks couldn't buy the XLV750.(some mug in Auckland just let one go for a song)
Same with the singles for the short track, for a long time it was a Rotax powered bike or nothing, they even had HD on the tank. But those DRZs look like they mean business,I bet there are red and blue ones too.I see one with a high guard and slicks,so they must double them up as motards too - I wonder what the set up changes are.But yeah, choice - go to the dirt track and see a DRZ up against a WRF or CRF and you know who you're gunna cheer for - that's the most important part of a spectator sport, for the paying public to identify with the bikes racing. And 30 yrs ago flattrack had it in spades,be good to see it back again.
