    Integrated taillight experience...

    G'day all,

Do any of you use/have experience with using integrated tail lights to enable you to remove unsightly indicators? Now obviously they mean that it is not so apparent to those behind you which way you are turning. Have any of you had any hassle getting wof's/trouble from the law because of these?

Im fitting a set to the R1 to tidy up the arse end of it, but will be keeping the standard "spade" jsut in case required come wof time.

Never had any probs with the law about mine. WOF should be OK too but they'll fail your bike if it doesn't have a rear reflector, which mine hasn't, which will mean it'll fail in a weeks time when it goes for a warrant.

You'll probably have to fuck around with resistors to get the LED's to flash at the proper fequency.

I know the right people so warrants are not a problem. Haven't had a problem with the law yet, but as usual that'll probably all change soon.

Probably right there man. Aftermarket cans, tinted visors and screens they're all doomed. Fuck before long wheelies will be illegal.

Actually I reckon cops are pretty cool with bikes as generally we don't carry on like fucktard boyracers.

Still can't beat a bike with a loud pipe doing rolling burnout followed by a monster wheelie outside a school at 3:00 in the afternoon.

Its a real shame that theyt pick on the minority first and give up on the big game... they shouldn't be allowed to touch us untill they get rid of those faggy boi ricers....

... who raced past them while they were trying to show off to their car bitch. It hurt the boi racers feelings even more when the biker rubbed it in by flipping a birdie and doing a mono when passing

put it into perspective and it sounds great

Aint nothin' more satisfying than rocking past a line of rice burner heaps of crap that sound like flushing urinals on the back wheel knowing full well that their ho' girlfriends are wishing that they were on the back. (Vice versa of it's a girl biker eh flame). It's great knowing that not only can we out perform them but we can have jolly good stunts while we're doing it.

My bike hasn't got any reflective stuff on it (it's all gay), and no issues passing WOFs (yet).

As for the LED indicators, you can get electronic relays, which can be adjusted for things like LEDs. You set the flash rate, and it just deals with it. I've just installed some LEDs on mine (pics comin soon) and installed a 'Moro' bar sized power thingy to help with the flashers. It came with the lights, but was an easy install (photos of that comin too)..

edit - Skelstar - what the hell are you on about mate? Don't make me waste my 5,000 post on you..

Their page says '18 superbright white LED's that shine orange'. Huh?

[edit] As I understand it 'white LEDs' are actually blue LEDs with a blue filter on them. So to say that its a 'superbright white LED' that shines 'orange' is just bollocks. Why dont they just say 'superbright orange' and avoid the geek-speak.

I wasn't sold on the idea of these integrated taillights to start with, seeing as the pics on the net don't do them justice in the area of making the indicator stand out. And I'm firmly of the view that indicators are made to be SEEN, which I didn't think they were seen too well in the pictures.

But having seen the back end of Jimbo a little too often, I can now confirm that they work perfectly well in the real world.

yeah yeah, shoot me, I'm reviving a thread

but this is exactly what I'm busy doing now. No sense in having another thread when we can keep this all together.

The bike currently has crappy aftermarket indicators, designed with pretty looks in mind, instead of durability. As such, both lenses on the rear have broken. Either buy more lenses, that will break, new indicators, or, what I was probably going to do at some point, an integrated tail unit.

    Integrated Tail Light

My question, does anyone know of the legalities of these, wof and ltsa/law wise. I have a rear reflector already, and the lack of a license plate light doesn't seem to stop the wofs.

Would units like these meet wof requirements??

I haven't had any worries in regards to law or wof with mine. No rego light or reflector either.

i just replaced mine with an extreme graphic undertray with its own led lights,i had a clear alternatives clear tailight with intergrated indicators,i couldnt get a warrant at local suzuki shop there explanation was that the lens cover didnt have some numbers on it,they admitted that its bullshit but were bound by the law.they told me to go to a car place that does bike warrants as well which i did, they never noticed anything and gave me a warrant

Thanks guys. 98, I'm getting the drift there. The bike will be most likely continually be wofed by the shop I bought it from, who wofed it without a license plate light, so I should be sweet.

Might just pay to drop in and see what they say... as others have said, if you know the people, no problems. I reckon it will be much better than the current indicators anyway.
