Been waiting a while for the pre 89's to catch up to where they should have been. Holden on the Budget GSXR1100 was into the low 9's in period - and the 750's immediately went into the 8's at the first WSB round. Given tyre and shock development they're still not there yet.
The owner is Mike Webster, same guy Sketchy has always ridden a Bimota for.
I'm pretty sure Horst Saiger got a 1.07 out of my GSX1100 around there, Friday practice, Manfield Suzuki Series 2015.
He virtually tossed it back at me & said bluntly, "zat ees ass fast ass eet can go"

Memory says they'd gone quicker in unofficial practise earlier in the week in '88.
Qualifying may have been damp - race day certainly was as Tardozzi discovered at the splash....

I remember roche in 1990 odd he was on fire in the second race till his conrods decided to surrender and left the crankcase.
