    There are parts of this road that are very slow,so give yourself plenty of time.The gravel bit is ussually of no real consequence.Its a great detour!

    The gravel section is only 13 kilometres .... bugger all really.

    Happy days - I was wondering just how long the unsealed bit is so thanks for that. The weather's looking fairly good for tomorrow too so I reckon Taumaranui to Stratford and then rejoining the SH3 and heading South will be the way ahead. I'm looking forward to it.

    Rode this yesterday morning on my way from AKL to WGN to catch the late afternoon (17:00) ferry. What a cracking route! Me like!
