The Rimutaka Hill road is a very short and insignificant ride and recent "improvements" have made it even less interesting. The main attraction for Wellington riders is that it's almost on their door step. It really doen't justify inclusion on anybody's list of top rides.
The days when you could get a coffee and a feed at the top ... were the days to remember. NO WRB's (except for the sheep fence) then ...

Sundays were the best day to watch from the top car park. Some very interesting machinery parked up there ... and some wonderful noises coming up the hill from both sides.

Last time I went through, it was a miserable wet slimy day, with roadworks and mist and SUVs in a hurry. Generally shitty and slow for me ... but "an experience".

A bit like going to the dentist.

I should prolly go twice a year.

The Akaroa Road looks ok, I reckon the Highway 16 GP is better.

You also refuse to accept that education is of any benefit to reducing risk despite being able to post on here because you were educated sufficiently to almost be able to read and write, let alone ride and drive.

I stand by my opinion that you are a troll and KB is going down the shitter as a consequence.
The continued "further training is useless" broken record certainly deserves counter measures, beyond that I don't give a monkeys...

Oh boy, that was a while ago. But yep, Sunday mornings were quite nice for a ride and a chat at the top of the hill, well at least when the cafe was still there.

I'll bet actual money no one has ever said you were ever, are or will ever be a good rider. (and you don't count)

    Okay Cassina,

For the sake of pure curiosity on my part - I'm interested to see what you gather was the cause of a bunch of YT accidents and what could the riders have done differently to stay 2 wheels down:

    Here are the Time Stamps:

    Accident 1: 0:07
    Accident 2: 0:24
    Accident 3: 0:49
    Accident 4: 1:18
    Accident 5: 1:53
Accident 6: 2:18 (this one milks it for ages just to get the sympathetic young maidens present)
    Accident 7: 6:11
Accident 8: 6:24* (gets repeated with rider commentary)
    Accident 9: 8:08
    Accident 10: 9:00

I'll ask everyone else in the thread to watch said video but not to post anything until after Cassina has written their 2c, I've got my opinions on all of them and I'm interested by what you pick up from the videos.

However - all point scoring aside - I was going to edit the above post - to specifically cite you by name for your take on the causes - as despite our numerous (and lengthy) disagreements, I suspect you would be able to call all 10 accurately - and I'm interested to compare Cassina's, mine and your take on the above (as well as everyone elses 2c)
