    MX clubs around Auckland (ish)

Are there any worth joining? I'm not in a position to go up north all the time now (I currently belong to the Whangarei club; 2 1/2 - 3 hours away) so am looking at closer stuff.
I'm a grouchy old bastard now, so it's gotta be pretty laid back and not full of b/s. Or is the north it?

    for racing,
Ardmore holds racing at different times, non mnz, so no licence

Rodney club is north of auckland, holds club days and has a ride park at Dome Valley, also non MNZ,

a little bit more serious, but nothing like road racing serious, MNZ club so a club level licence is required,
Pukekohe hold club dyas and practice days every month at Mercer and Harrisville,

    practice tracks,
    Flightpath MX by the airport,

and motox central, by huntly, also has a trail loop,

    Thanks.
I've been to Ardmore a few times (I live in Papakura now), Flightpath once (are they ever open?) Thundercross, and MX central. Also Maungatoroto (really good). Even been to Pirini once.
I actually have a licence, Whangarei is mnz. It's just a little far to travel 3 1/2 hours and fall off in the first race and get injured, then drive 3 1/2 hours home again.
I was thinking more along the lines of Huntly or maybe Patetonga?
Maybe I could give Puke a go...
Just wanna have some races for fun...too outta shape to be serious these days , but I still got an itch to race...
Btw, are there any decent NZ mx/dirt bike forums?

yeah, not sure what the go is with Flightpath, never open a lot, have been meaning to get up there, they say its good,
Patetonga is 2nd sunday, but usually only summer months,
HUntly do a few mxers, but really concentrate on the Cross Countrys, and dont have a perminate track, when they do MX is usually 1st sunday,
Cambridge is good, prob about 90 min drive, they run 4th sunday of the month, (was yesterday, but rained out)

Pukekohe is good, (i am biased tho, life member and president for 5 years) Mercer can get rough, will be a practice this monday (queens birthday) that will be packed, might be worth doing a practice their first, they run in groups according to speed ) clubdays are 3rd sunday of the month, racing is good with big turn outs, esp at mercer in winter when other clubs cant run, not sure what class you usully ride, vets are fast their, but they do run a MX3 as well,

Thanks, will definitely give some thought to Puke. I usually run in the fastest/roughest class, Vets. I'm not that fast these days though
Flightpath is fun, lots of jumps with fairly short run-ups. Almost supercross ish, but a few more open bits. Kills ya if you aren't fit
