So BMW have gone into production with this prototype and by all accounts it has retained most of the nice styling. Sure the trick rear end was always going to be in the too hard basket. Still I like the final look.

105 hp for 895cc twin is OK but won't have eye ball watering acceleration. Says me who bought the 85hp F800S way back and now only have 115hp to play with. I do miss the rush of serious hp sometimes though.

The F900 should be a smooth, fast enough, pleasant tourer. Super economical and cheap motor to maintain.
Oh there is a naked version as well but I won't inflict that image on you- the ugly sister so to speak. Best we don't talk about her.

Yep - This looks like the most interesting bike BMW have brought out in some time IMHO. I like the idea and it'll hopefully be reasonably priced too. I remember riding an early F800s and rather liking it. I always quite fancied the ST/GT version as an efficient and useable sporty tourer. Perhaps the XR is the modern equivalent?

I recently test rode the F850GS and without a doubt the power from that motor was considerably better than my 2006 F800S. From the lights the GS with a quick-shifter absolutely rocked. I rode the Tiger 800 and Africa Twin and they paled by comparison to the GS. So, the F900 could be a right ripper of a road bike. I hope Motomart get a demo when they reach our shores.

Engine in F900 is slightly bored and worked to a 895cc capacity, but it's the same basic thing used in F850 with 853cc. New variant has a flatter torque curve and 10 more horses.

F750 shares the same 853cc engine, but with different cams and intake wizardry to give it 10% less power that F850.

Triump Tiger 800 will now be 900 with a new engine as well (actually the same old engine bored out a bit and different firing order and stuff). No change in HP or torque though.

How heavy is the XR? Anyone seen that spec yet? The 850 GS was 230kg with a full, 15l tank. Not that impressive really...but not saying it is not a nice machine. For me personally, I am looking now at something a bit lighter than that.

F900XR is 219kg with 90% fuel in. Tank is 15.5 litres.

F900R is 211kgs, but tank is 13 litres.

I had a read of the Bikesocial reports - On paper they appear to be really rather good. However, I'm not convinced that they'd have that certain 'Something' that would make me want one in the garage if I rode one.

That or a Tracer 900GT? Mmm, tough choice.
