No you're still fucked up. My default postion would be that virtually nothing would have happened exactly as reported. Anytime that you are present at an event that is reported, the subsequent reports vary from what actually happened. So it would be safe to assume that is always the case.
If, however, something is reported in multiple newspapers it's fair to conclude that something similar to that did take place. Until it's proven otherwise.
An example. A while back Yokel mentioned a British VIP paedophile ring that he was sure was going to result in the arrest of multiple members of the establishment. A guy had made wild accusations, a police operation was launched, millions spent, the press had a field day. I prefer to wait a bit when such news breaks. Just as well, now it seems the whole thing was fantasy and the story teller has been packed off to jail. The Guardian has a podcast about it today if you want some detail.

this certainly has a ring of truth to it.

Now, for full context - feel free to watch the entire video. I've copied the timestamp near the end when a question or 2 is raised about Tommy Robinson.
The above is a British Caribbean Black Man, discussing about the time when he spoke to Tommy Robinson - now, YMMV, but this quote:
"I don't think Tommy Robinson is a Racist, he's a Man who has seen his Town change and his Country change"
followed by "I didn't feel racism from him" - would seem to be grounds to refute the claim that he's a Racist.
Now, there is a challenge here - I'm sure you could find umpteen minority people who will tell you they consider Tommy Robinson a Racist. Of that, I have no doubt.
Can you find one, however, that has both talked to Tommy directly to form said opinion and doesn't actively identify with various socio-political movements that have a vested interest in labeling him as Racist? I'm not so sure.
If that is the case, then it would seem the oft-repeated claim of 'RACISM' is a few spokes short of a Wheel.

edit - i see on twitter this morning he was apparently trying to detain a guy who may have groped an 8 year old, not sure what side is true, but the daily mail is not known as the greatest place to get news, its just the usual British trash tabloid,
