Ronnie Run AKA Ronald McDonald House Run

    Hi all

Just to let you all know that the Ronnie Run to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House at Starship Children's Hospital is not being held this year, 2005. Talamarkos, who used to organise this run, have handed the run over to the Auckland Branch of the Ulysses Club, NZ. The date was going to be November 27th until it was pointed out that this was also the date of the Auckland (Farmers) Santa Parade. It was therefore decided that this was not an appropriate date given that most children from the Ronnie House would be taken to the Parade.

The date is now tentatively booked for 9th April 2006.

    I will keep you posted.

As a member of Talamarkos, or should that be former member since Talamarkos is all but gone now, it's nice to know that the Ronnie Run is still going to be around. It's raised a reasonable amount of money through the 11 or so years that it had run and a lot of people put some good work into it so thanks to Ulysses for taking it on. Mrs Grumpy and myself will be there.

    Hi Grumpy

Yes, Rhino and I have done a number of the Ronnie Runs and Talamarkos have done a marvellous job over the years I salute you, inspite of the weather at times!!! :spudwave:

The Ulysses Club (Rhino and I are members) really want to see the Ronnie Run continue. The Auckland Branch of Ulysses now have a committee organising it and I will try to keep you all posted.

For the record I volunteer at Starship Hospital and we have a lot to do with the kids and families from Ronald McDonald House.
