The lines are min and max so *just* above max when the bike hasn't run yet is fine. When the engine is upright and running the oil will go down a little anyway. Take it for a decent ride and then check the oil level right afterwards and you'll see.
As soon as you hit the start button on any motorcycle ... the amount of oil at the bottom end drops considerably as it circulates. Oil helps wit cooling too. Hot running bikes need all the help they can get ... especially at the higher end of their performance range.
The less oil circulating ... the faster it wears out. Ducati's were never well known for their longevity anyway ...
I have a small piece of flat wood that I put under the side-stand ... that gives the bike a slight lean so it safe('ish) to look at the sight glass. Filling to the max level on the sight-glass will give a level just below max which is ok.

I have a 2008 Ninja 250, Oil filter's i use are either "Emigo" 10-20300 or "Champion" COF301 available from Cycletreads, or a "Hiflo Filtro" HF 401 from Supercheap, also from Supercheap use Castrol - Active 4T Mineral oil thats all you need............are you listening Boy!!!!!!
this morning when bike was cold as f the oil level was even bit below high point lol i didnt use it to commute as im still waiting for gears to arrive/decide , just came home and checked again and oil levels are again bit above the high point , tomorrow ill take it for a short ride and see if airbox fills up with oil hahahah
