    KLR650 - Trademe deal

    Hi all,

This seems like a really good deal. Lots of quality expensive extras, relatively new, low ks, and i'd like to think I could haggle him down to $7,400

    Thoughts?

The facelift 2017 1/2 model got better suspension. If it's not that model then thats points against it. The original gen II suspension was pretty soft and underdamped by comparison.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Pretty sure it was anything 2014.5 onwards that has the better seat and suspension.

Apart from that I dont really know if this is a good deal or not just started looking at KLR's

I think it depends on what you want a KLR for. I bought mine for fanging on gravel roads and paid a tad over $5,500 for a 2012 with 20,000k. I asked the seller to remove the top box before I bought it and gadgets aren't really my thing. One thing I do know is that the KLR is the least powerful, worst handling and unresponsive of my three bikes but it's currently still my favourite to ride. I tend not to think about the price I paid for it unless prompted, it just doesn't really matter.

The panniers and top box are worth more than the bike and would be the first thing to get destroyed in a minor off on gravel etc

That implies Givi is overpriced, yet fragile - sold as an image enhancer for bikes that will rarely see even slightly adverse conditions. Is that why its seen on so many BMWs and other large Eurobikes?

They are waterproof, hold heaps and are relatively theft proof but for actual adv riding softbags are where it's at

The Kawi Versys 650 is twice the bike, but the KLR is much cheaper. Bike is $9000, loaded with Givi luggage and accessories puts it at about $11000 new. Save $3,000 for 11,000km and a year of use. Yep, looks like a fair deal.
