Documentary about Wayne Gardner - in theatres now (Sept 2018)

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainmen...y-a-love-story

I was unable to attend the preview screening (which Wayne attended and which had a Q & A session) a couple of weeks ago, but I will be making an effort to see this.

PS go see the Spitfire documentary as well.

Looks like a good movie to go and see.

Also, "Hurricane" is on the schedule, portraying the Polish 303 squadron in the BoB.

I've enjoyed all of Martin's programmes. Spitfire, Tank, The Boat that Guy Built, Our Guy in China/India, How Britain Worked, Speed, they're all good!

I'll have to see if anyone where I am is screening the Gardner doco!

I have seen that and it is good.

I basically have to go to the UK to see the battle of britain flight. There's a Lancaster in the shed where they keep the Spitfires. A Lancaster!

That one has been there for ever.
I remember a story that they rebuilt the engines and someone started one or more of them before oil was added.

I went to the Madras Oregon Airshow a couple of weeks ago and they had not one but 2 P51 Mustangs ripping around. Really very cool.

An uncle did, I think 12 missions as tail gunner on a Lancaster, (short bastard).

Don't think it was a record, but I believe the average missions survived was less than three.

Yes there is a Lanc at Motat. Sometimes you can crawl through it.

Random thing, my first boss was an RAF flight engineer on Lancs. They pretty much never slept, only time they had for sleep was when the aircraft were in the air. Then they were shit scared something they did failed so didnt sleep well. From memory he lost 5 crews.

Ive recently been up in a Spit. They are not kidding when they say you wear them. Very cool aircraft with stunning power.

Well I dont make a habit of going for flights in fighters so my experience is limited to the Spit. You feel everything, you hear everything and you get a faceful of fuel each time it comes on power. Ive done some flying but this was next level for me. Direction change was amazing.

Most definitely not a harley, more like a Britton.
