    eek torque impact driver

Hi i need a impact driver to lossen clutch variator on my honda 250 scooter oh and flyweel bolt can anyone recommend.
something i brought . one for my air compressor but either compressor not up to the task. 115 ltr min. or the 3/4 gun not sure.

its fine for undoing the general bolts on the frame . but not much more. i cant see a battery pack one being much use either so a wired one please. its not the end the world i can use socket and decent extension . but curious as what u can use .

I've been looking at battery powered ones recently. Also interested in recommendations.

I suspect some of the stated NM ratings are suspect - Supercheap Auto one says 360nm or something but on line ratings state this is BS. Presumably 'name' brands are more reliable on what they state.

Rear axle nut on the Ducati is 176nm so a good effort on a breaker bar to undo - I like the idea of a gun to spin this off.

Even better I like the idea for a new tool :-)

I have a Li Ryobi rattle gun, part of a combo and not exactly bank breaking. Not sure if it's quite up to the task of your axle nut but it will snap seized 8mm bolts quite effortlessly. Luckily the drill is pretty good, too, dunno how long the chuck will last though.

Be well worth looking into some of the more professional gear available IMHO.

Mines rated about 140Nm IIRC, no reason to doubt that.

I just recently bought a Makita cordless impact wrench to get the 55mm rear wheel nut off on my Ducati Multi which is torqued up to a massive 230Nm. It spun it off effortlessly and instantly where my pneumatic was ineffective. As a side note, you can not expect the aluminium wheel nut sockets they sell for Ducatis to work with an impact wrench, you need a steel socket. Impact wrench rated at 1000Nm max. I have a heap off work gear that is Makita so was only buying a skin..

I think that's a impact drill more than a wrench - good for boring into concrete and the likes.

I'm looking at the likes of

Yeah - I went good old steel - even though they harden the alloy ones I was suspect of them. I got one of those nice ones that also locks inside the hollow axle - less chance of it slipping off as you give it a heave.

230nm - that wheel is not going to fall off!

Yep, that is an impact driver, I have two of these and use them constantly for screwing off roofs, plywood etc.brilliant tool, mine would not shear off an 8mm bolt tho, will do a 10# screw but not a14#. An impact wrench is what the tyre shops use to fit wheel nuts, or rather, remove them as they are not torque sensitive enough to refit.

There has been a lot of swearing involved in removing it! And with an impact wrech the socket slipping off is not the same issue as it is with a power bar...I had to buy a 3/4" torque wrench as well and they are not cheap!

As my brother would say; "Just take it off and put it back on to around 2 'ugga-duggas' "

I have a 1/2" DeWalt. My son took it to a (car) track day for wheel changes, and it was used to take the front axle nut off a FWD car.

All I use it for on the bike is the front sprocket nut as I'm scared of breaking anything else! I suspect it could be useful if the flywheel ever has to come off.
