    Finished my RD400C

Hi, new here. Bought this off TradeMe a couple of years back. It was a complete dog, not even worth the bother of trying to start, I doubt it would have as the electrics were toast. So I stripped it down for a full rebuild. Painted frame, 100% fresh engine, Powerdynamo CDI ignition, halogen headlight, overhauled brakes with all stainless bits, carbs, electrics, suspension, etc. etc. Pipes are stainless, made by Fukui racing in Japan. They let you keep the stock pegs and stands, unlike most pipes that require a few modifications to fit.

Just got it fired up this weekend. Not a concours resto by any means, but mechanically, no stone was left unturned. She's meant to be ridden, not looked at! Sounds sweet and she runs awesome, but still breaking in the engine so have to take it easy! Will try and get some footage soon : Any other RDs out there on this board?

    Stunning build.
It's a pity you didn't log on here sooner & do a step by step build thread. They can be very interesting.

Nice little bike you've got there! Also props for not putting some Chinesium bar-end mirrors from ebay on it and a brown, quilted seat!

or removing the front guard and wrapping the pipes. You've done a great job.

Thanks chaps, I'm not the best at the whole build process documentation thing but I do have a bunch of photos I took during the project, which I'll upload shortly. Now I just need this rain up in Auckland to bugger off!

    Very nice bike.

The most important photo is one showing how it looked when you first got it....

Looks good - I do like the exhausts. Yeah, a couple of "as found" photos would be good.

Cool man. I should be guts deep in a G resto, but the deal is taking so long to hatch I'm sort of losing steam.

That bike is a breath of fresh air compared to the heaps of crap advertised on Tardme. Enjoy.

I should be guts deep in mine too but the bike is still sitting there unloved!

You may have to end up twisting my arm instead.
