My thoughts lay with the three of you and the friends and family of the lad. I hope you can all find the strength you need to get through these next few weeks. Keep your head up hxc, i know that its sad and a waste, but he is now where he wanted to be. Thinking that is all that got me through a friends suicide last year.
    Happy thoughts guys.
Contact me if you need anything at all.
There is no dark side of the moon, really, as a matter of fact. Its all dark...

To all involved in this very sad tragedy - please accept my deepest condolences and please, please keep hugging one another and supporting each other. hXc - take good care of yourself and your young mates as you try to deal with this. It's not easy having to deal with sudden death at any age, but it's especially hard when you are young.

I have had my fair share of mental health issues and have had years of counselling and some time in a psych unit to sort my way through the issues. I now have the take medication to keep the balance. I have had attempted suicide too. The last attempt saw me in ICU and it was touch and go. However I am through that now and keep on the positive side of life.

Just keep talking, hugging and caring for one another!!!!

Sorry to hear about this hxc. Had a realie hang himself a few years ago so have some idea what you are about at this time. There are no simple answers as to why these tradgedys happen. The only advice I can give is that 'we'll never know.' That's not meant to be callouse hxc but at times like this there are some answers that's it's 'best not for us to know.'

My biggest fear for my kids. I can't say much but stay strong and talk to someone... it does help.
It is something that needs to spoken about, without communication we are on our own.

Thanks all for your support for us especially tho for Zac, he is coping but very confused and quiet (not like him at all). Thanks to all who have PM'd us and/or him, chatted to him online and phoned. Its having people who care that makes these things bearable, and MSTRS and I are really grateful.

the support you give to the one's left behind will be needed.... get in their face and let them know you are there for them at ANYTIME...
simple words like that go a hell of a long way..

people have been there for me ... they may have not known at the time how much i needed them at the time, but they have said those words to me....and they help!!!!!!!!!

I tried to stay away from this thread as it has brought back an awful memory for me personally. Its not just the young - the fact is we cant go back and we cant say the what ifs?

From my experience you will go through every emotion available to a human being. Sorrow...disbelief...guilt...anger and just when you think all is well you will go through the same emotions.

Just when you think you have your emotions sussed a memory, a smell, a comment from someone unknowingly will bring it all back. The thing that gets me the most is that these (and I dont mean that in a derogatory nature) people have friends and family. They hurt those of us they leave behind like they would never understand because they never considered us.

How you get through it is with time and that can take years. To hear of someone so young saddens me. My thoughts are with you and your family hxc

Hmm, "hanging in" was perhaps not the best thing to say.

As a 15yo, stuff like this wierds me out. I have a couple of girl friends that are teh contemplating suicide part. In fact, I've probably spent the last 3 years stopping them/others.

Far out. Sucks to all involved...

    but what?

is it because their brains are broken, and they need to be fixed with medication until they grow out of a random neural misconnection that's causing erratic irrationality?

is it because life's being so horrible to them that another few years of endurance are unbearable, and would cause such lasting damage that they might as well give up on existence now?

is it because the selfish little gits think that they're really boring and insignificant (probably true), will be dead one day in any case, and might as well cause as much of an impact as they can while there are still people who care about them?

there must be a common causal thread.

but I've never experienced it first-hand, so would anyone who has care to comment?
Depression isn't rational, nor is it caused by any one particular thing. Shitty childhoods, drug & alchohol abuse, can certainly cause it but arnt the only causes. I dont think anyone, including the experts knows all the causes of depression.

I've suffered from depression in the past (still get occasional bouts but rarely and not as bad as they used to be). I can only say that its a bit like being the ultimate pessimist. I felt like my life wasnt going anywhere, I was always going to be in debt, I was never going to find a good woman, I didn't have any friends (even thou I had plenty), the thought of living another 60 years of beign in debt, unhappy, working my life away to make someone else rich was just so horrible there didnt seem any point to bothering. About the only thing that kept me from topping myself back then was the memory of a friend of mine killing himself, and my mother telling me she never wanted to bury another child after my sister died. I was lucky in having those thoughts to hold onto and stop me from going over the edge, but I can certainly see why others have killed themselves.

The worst part about depression is that even when you have loving family, good friends, etc, because of the depression you feel alone and isolated, and like there is no-one there for you.

    My 2 cents.

My condolences go out to those affected by this... i guess sad as it is,what is a little more tragic is those involved directly are left behind to dwell on what could have been done to avoid it,or how it was missed, sometimes blaming themselves..when there is little that can be done in a lot of cases unless the person comes out beforehand and reveals how they are feeling, which can be hidden behind a mask in public...I think in youth it can be related to hormone imbalance that can start a cycle.

I'm not really sure what depression is,but do NOT think it relates to happy or sad but more like a overwhelming greyness even if that person is happy in themselves.
