    Whanga ride..

Good to see off AJTurbo... then a small group of us headed out to "the best small pub"... weather wasn't too good very damp in some places. Anyways started out with a nice sedate pace heading to Stratty, stopped and waited for the rest of the crew to turn up, and then AJTurbo left us to continue on back home (wellington), we turned left onto the forgotten world highway, with very dark clouds on the ridges ahead of us... got to the bottom of the first ridge and stopped.. group decision was made to continue on rain wasn't going to put a dampner on this ride

Over the first set of ranges was fine.. abit slippery in places the more experienced riders were following, but eventually made their way to the front of the pack (prolly bout 3/4 up the ridge) so I'm then tail end charlie with the rest of the crew going at a nice easy pace.. just finish the ridge coming down to a very slight s-bend and my mate in front of me on a Honda interceptor 700 slides out (smooth wet tarseal) I'm put into miss the sliding bike and rider mode with what appeared to be truck loads of petro and oil spillin from the bike he stops sliding.. I come back.. park up.. turn his bike off (horn was doin a nutta).. he's alright.. slightly crazed knee.. very injured pride.. a local ute stops 20 seconds after we've picked the bike up.. no cell coverage.. so we decide for him to hitch a ride into Stratford and call someone to help retrieve his bike.

I continue on... Must note I was very hesitate on the corners and slippy black stuff.. (even being careful had the back slide out on me twice!) anyways.. get to the pub, was a requirement and a nice steak sandwich

The trip back we stuck together (well most of us ) through the ranges.. where the roads eventually got drier again..

Went around to my mates.. they had picked up the bike.. broken sump faceplate.. fairing damage.. were the obvious signs.. didn't check too much as it was still on its side on the trailer..

Overal a excellent ride... still not 100% confident in the twisties but still gaining.. so its all good.

Was great to meet some more new KB rider's & their partner's today even tho the bloody weather shit it's self , Apart from the small off which was easly done as the road was pretty crappy with so much rain & fuel laying round on it , glad not to much harm was done to man & machine . Even my slow old Gsxr was doing the big Rossi thing round coner's & even on the straight's thanks to heap's of water laying round on the road . Could have been the Supercorsa on the back helping thing's get abit sideway's . Nodroj should have some nice pics of Lunch & bikes later I would think , When I got back to NP I filled the GSXR back up & went out to MT Messenger for a Play through the twisty's & abit of Hill work to try the new shock out excellent is all I'll say . Hope the weather is abit finer for next outing . Oh yea will chuck a Pic of Inlines new PIE carryer in too

    Arrow Bloody weather.

Hope the bike that went down is repaired and running with not too much hassle and loss of $$$. Went out to scooterboy's pad in Lepperton and it did look VERY dark over that way. Not the sort of conditions I need to get used to the bike, although I have ridden it int he rain allready. Hopefully the weather will finish its brain fart soon and get on with summer...

Great ride, even in the torrential rain. See Barry..., the girlies don't mind rain!!!! Good to meet new faces and putting real names to the aliases. Good workout for the wet weather gear too...found a few small leaks, will have to fix before going to Coromandel for this weekend!

Hope the off dude is fine and up and running. Could be a new member on KB shortly...
