Probably worth checking this out so you can make an informed decision when entering this event.

yes I know that crashing, injury, or even death is a possibility, at least it won't be from some Muppet in a cage pulling out in front of me, or some nice road worker leaving pea gravel around a corner and decided didn't need signage or....
I see that familiarizing runs up the road prior to the timed runs is available, I'd probably be inclined to ride up/down the road several times to work out where the bumps /potholes , slick tarseal bits are located prior to pushing it at pace.
bike is finally at the tuners, once it's done there ill get the metzler 7rr's fitted, still got a few things to sort, as im riding the bike to the event, which means its got to have the pack rack fitted to carry all my gears, its partially permanently mounted at present, so I'll refab it to be fully removable, plus my spotlights need some wire connectors fitting to allow removal.
I'm also re-jigging the mra screen to allow higher a topspeed, and ill fit some second hand ( ex crash) side panels, and some crash bungs to aid minimizing any damage from a slow speed off (just in case) plus the hand grips need replacing, and any thing else that needs attension.
well my bad luck is still dogging me, I managed to bend an inlet valve trying to install the adjustable sprocket onto the std cams, so the replacement item won't be here for another two weeks, I thought well that's it for this year's event, but my kind brother has said I can run his bike in the hillclimb. I'd already had the metzlers put on the gsx rims, I've got a spare pilot road tyre to put on the back, as his is getting fairly worn.
it wouldn't be my first pick to ride, but I'm grateful to at least still attend and get some fun in, plus I don't want to cause any damage to his bike, so I'll have to be abit more cautious than on my bike.
at least I'll get to learn the road in preparation for next year.
I've made it to wellington , get set of tyres fitted 2moro, head out to the hillclimb yo set me tent up, start removing the touring stuff off the bike to reduce weight, ive set the suspension up close,on the sv , but it will need a couple of tweaks to allow it to be pushed abit more at higher speed, weather looks good for the event.. so I might see some of you out there
Good on you for having a go and good luck!

Hi guys never been to this event .
What's it like getting a good spectator position ?
Can I just turn up & walk to a good site or should I arrive early ?
cheers
This is shaping up to be the year I should go.
There is sometimes a shuttle. But you can drive up to the three easiest spots and park. The road gets opened between runs.
okay thanks Drew I'll check it out
Does it get tv time at all?
