What happend to the price of a warrent?!

Last year I moved to a new city and therefore had to try a new mechanic to get my WOF. Needless to say I was a bit shocked when I got a bill for $45. Decided to ditch that place and go somewhere else this year. New price: $50. Where I used to live (never had a set place I'd for for a warrant) a bike warrant was never over $25 - which makes sense considering it takes 10mins to do. A car warrant these days costs about the same but takes much longer. Does anyone know why warrants for bikes are so hefty now - I'm guessing its some sort of govt level thing.

sounds like you were getting cheap w.o.f's mate, if i go to a vtnz or similar outfit i pay $59.00 which is steep. but if i go to my regular guy he charges about $45 which im fine with. must take them 30 mins pretty much when you include doing the admin part

Local garage is $40ish for the bike or the car, still takes up half an hour of their time so I figure fair enough.

Had to go to VTNZ at short notice when couldn't book in at the usual, $61 for a bike wof means I won't be back.
Riding cheap crappy old bikes badly since 1987

WOFs changed from 6 months to yearly for many vehicles a few years ago. Doing hal;f as many WOFs meant garages and VTNZ hads to increase costs to cover the loss of income.

Think it was $60-65 for the bike at VTNZ in October

I'll get it done at the bike shop next time - I'd rather pay them the same amount.
