Yes they do look fine they are design classics , now have a look at the proportions on the krautsickle you posted esp the seat to rear of tank ratio height
Its a beautiful bike, but the cafe racer aesthetics of it are unfortunately somewhat spoiled by a seat hump 50-75mm to low that do not match the tank.
Oh I see what you're talking about, I thought you were talking about the actual seat being too small.
I disagree, I think a small seat hump looks great. It looks more modern than the bikes you posted.
It's a modern take on the cafe design, like most modern cafe's these days. You don't have to follow to the letter a very strict set of rules, that's just stupid and limits creativity and design. And I don't see why you can't enjoy an apple just because it's not an orange. That bike I posted is stunning. The tank is long and thin, a small seat hump suits it well. Ascetically speaking, IMO, I think the only thing wrong with it is the pipes should be shorter (not by much though) and lower down and the same angle as the seat hump, and I probably would have gone for a different muffler, something slimmer.
I dunno, obviously it's personal preference but I think large seat humps like the ones you posted just look outdated. It's like how you don't see square headlights on sports bikes any more. It's all round, weird angles, slim.
Seat humps serve a purpose to frame the bike, ascetically speaking, they don't need to be huge and ugly.
I am not sure you do understand.
Its not the size of the hump but the size in relation to the rear of the tank on the BMW.
Look at the pic you posted shallow rear seat shalow seat hump
Deep tank Deephump and vice versa.
its not about looking modern or looking old its the balance of aesthetics
The headlights are period there were no square headlights in the cafe period.
Its a beautiful bike but it is let down by a detail
No, they are more to stop the rider sliding off the back of the seat under acceleration. Then again if the "cafe racer" isn't capable of generating any real acceleration, then maybe there isn't any reason to go with a proper seat hump.
And that bikes mufflers are ugly, should be long, slow taper megas, with a small reverse cone (IMHO)
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

As admittedly something of a pedant may I point out that aesthetics (having to do with the appreciation of beauty) have fuck-all to do with severe self deprivation or self discipline, ie ascetics. Although if you rode some of those abominations for more than five minutes you might start to learn something about the latter.
Also "creativity" and "design" are entirely lacking in most hipster racers. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but in many instances Optrex would be of benefit.

I really like BMW's (especially K100's and R100's) and found this gem while looking at k100's. The colour scheme is sublime. BMW colours of the while and blue, the wire-black thin lines of the tank and cowl and sort of match the wire rims. It's so beautiful. The headlight is the only issue.
