Now I know what a squared off tyre feels like. Sketchy doesn't begin to describe it.

Question for the audience, is there anyway of machining this tyre back into round and should I just bin it and buy a new one.

Current tyre is a ContiRoadAttach 2 (where on earth do these names come from)

My other ST has a Pirelli of some sort.
Run the bike on the center stand and hit the tire with a disk grinder. If you expose any cords use some nugget to cover them.

Can we just confirm that it wasn't me that squared the tyre.
I had a proper crack at rounding it off in the Paraparas by driving it hard off the corners in low gears & it rode a whole lot better after that.
First half hour was dodgy as fuck.
It felt like the back wheel was falling out of it as soon as it was leaned over.
After that it was kind of ok.

    I did nearly exactly that.

Up on center stand, running in 1st gear and out with the wood rasp.

Seemed to trim a reasonable amount of rubber off, but the test ride told me that it was still quite weird to ride.
Bike doesn't want to lean over easily, but will if pushed.
The rear tyre is noticably squared off, so I think the best solution is a new set of tyres.

The other thing to check with the tyres is the date of manufacture, there'll be a code on the sidewalls.

But yeah, +1 to the idea of getting new rubber.

It's not the best solution, it's the only solution, and it's overdue.

Id just leave it & enjoy the randomness of the handling to keep me on my toes until the tyre is worn out.

I square tires commuting and if they are not too horrible I round them at the track. Day starts a little nasty (low tire pressure) and by the end if I've not died (on track square tires is not for everyone) or killed the bike they are much rounder! If on the square they are close to stuffed then when the sides grind down they will be close to stuffed also.

200km ride today, not too bad. Quite getting the hang of it.

Might keep them for a while, might even improve my meagre riding talent.
