Also that windfarm thing is only recent, as in the last month or so.

this came up he has never won a libel case at all ever.

“Trump and his companies have been involved in a mind-boggling 4,000 lawsuits over the last 30 years and sent countless threatening cease-and-desist letters to journalists and critics.” Neither he nor his companies have won a speech-related case,
Sorry it might have been never settling cases
TRUMP: ... We have a 98 percent approval rating from the people who took the course. We have an “A” from the Better Business Bureau. And, people like it. Now, he’s saying they didn’t learn.
We have many, many people that will be witnesses. Again, I don’t settle cases. I don’t do it because that’s why I don’t get sued very often, because I don’t settle, unlike a lot of other people.
The Better Business Bureau responded by saying that it never gave Trump University an “A” rating, and had in fact received “many consumer complaints” about the university. As for not getting sued very often, a report in February found that Trump had been named in 169 (nice) federal lawsuits.
Trump was due in court on November 28, but it looks like the man who said he’d never settle is going to settle. Early reports suggest that Trump will pay between $20 million and $25 million. It’s likely that Trump and his team want to keep him out of court because having a president-elect being tried for fraud is not a particularly good look. But given Trump’s mountain of debt, history of dodgy endeavors, and conflicts of interest, tying Trump up in court may be a good strategy for combatting his presidency.

After all settling would be like admitting defeat and defeat is clearly just fake news of a epic trump victory.

3500 lawsuits i would hate to think how many he would be involved in if he considered he was someone sued much?

A year or two back I read an account of an occasion Trump sued a newspaper, it may have been the Herald Tribune in that case mentioned in your Vanity Fair item. The paper's lawyers forced Trump to produce all sorts of information in court that normally he would prefer to keep confidential.

Under cross examination as to his worth the estimate he gave was wildly different to the figures in the information supplied to the court. The judge asked why that was. Trump replied that his answer was how rich he felt.

Trump had been forced to reveal a great deal of information about his business that he would rather have kept quiet so there was no way he could count it a win. After the case he boasted that the case had bankrupted the journalist. The paper and their insurance company paid, it didn't cost the journo a cent. There may have been a cost to him in stress but not in cash.

Well if it was in Vanity Fair it must be true.

    Last or only?

For more than four years, President Donald Trump has refused to release his federal income tax returns.
Friday, his attorney said the president plans to continue doing so, despite pressure from House Democrats to make the returns public.
In a letter to the Treasury Department, Trump’s attorney William Consovoy called on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to reject a request from the House Ways and Means Committee to release the president’s personal and business tax return.
Rep. Richard Neal (D-MA), who chairs the House Ways and Means Committee, demanded Trump’s returns on Wednesday, following months of a slow and meticulous start to a number of investigations into the Trump White House by Democrats newly in control of the House of Representatives.

Neal wants six years worth of Trump’s personal federal income tax returns and returns for business entities tied to his name, spanning 2013 through 2018. The chairman set an April 10 deadline for returns’ release.
Trump defied decades of precedent in refusing to release his returns — every modern presidential party nominee has made their tax returns public at one point or another. The president has justified his refusal to follow suit, but his justifications keep changing.
Over the course of his 2016 presidential campaign, Trump waffled over whether he’d actually make his returns available to the public. Before formally announcing his campaign, Trump promised conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt he would release his returns should he run for president. The president then punted on the issue after he formally declared his candidacy months later, saying in August 2015 that he’d release them “at some point.”
Trump teased of a big tax return reveal during the Republican primary season. But as Vox’s Andrew Prokop notes, Trump’s storyline started to shift around the time he edged closer to clinching the party’s nomination. Trump began arguing that he was barred from releasing his returns because he was being audited by the IRS. Only after the audit was finished would he be able to make the returns public, he claimed.

That clip "Trump reacts to Democrat's request for tax returns" is the one I mentioned in post #135. He didn't understand the question and he gave a silly answer. His logic seems to be that the government can't see my tax returns because the government is looking at my tax returns.

Somebody must have drawn him a picture because he hired a new lawyer to deal specifically with this yesterday.

You are quite literally the only Trump apologist or supporter I know, so I'll ask you the questions. Answer if you like or tell me to fuck off. Did you vote for him (assuming you are entitled to vote in a US election)? If so, why?

Given that there have been a large number of documented instances of trump being wrong, or lying, are you still a supporter? What would it take for you to stop being a supporter?

I am actually genuinely curious. I of course live in my sickly liberal echo chamber so I literally have no one else to ask. All the Americans I know are sickly liberals as well, and to a woman they despise Trump, the Republicans, and the American policital process. Its like religion, music and TV shows - we just don't go there.

It was an election that had probably the 2 most unpopular candidates ever. I voted for Trump because I disliked him slightly less than the old hag. My vote was a vote against her. There are a lot of people here that did likewise for the same reason. I still think I made the correct choice. Things for the average citizen are ticking along quite nicely.
I never actually said I support Trump (other than voting for him of course). He is light years away from being perfect but anyone was better than that fucking clinton woman.

I wonder how much of that was formed by your previously - and vehemently - expressed dislike for Helen Clarke. If she'd got in, you'd have had a continuation of straight Democrat policies. What exactly did you get with this idiot ? What appears to be a Christian version of Sharia law coming in which should set human rights in the US back abouit a century.

Yes, we get that for the average Joe the economy is ticking along nicely. But Trump can't take the credit for that, it was a delayed bounce from the Obama years. I'm hearing on other forums from US based members that some specialty industries are suffering badly from the tarrifs

Trump is the international face of the US - and it's a bloody ugly one. But his base simply won't see past the bullshit.
