No Goldwing I must admit but I've had some nice trips away on this one over the last few years . Another South Island trip coming up soon.

For a small country with lots of windy roads (like New Zealand or Japan) I find sports bikes can make very good tourers for solo riding.
Back in December 2001 when I took a new R6 for a test-ride from Red Baron, I was actually looking to buy a Kawasaki 636. Several things impressed me about the R6 at the time.
- Dual trip meters, with a 3rd odometer that activated when you hit reserve
A clock
A wide, tractor-like seat
Not too-aggresive a riding position
A very torquey engine for a 600. Would pull smoothly away from 70 km/h in 6th.
Better roll-on performance than a contemporary VFR750
The main modifications I made that also helped it tour were:
Ohlins rear suspension (with a softer spring than stock)
Re-valved front end
Higher front screen (major comfort improvement)
Now, 18 years and 159,500 km later, it's still a great little sports tourer!
Shit doesn't just happen; there's usually an arsehole involved.
