I'm sure they were but there's no excuse for ugly. The Tracer was an opportunity thrown away by Yamaha when they let someone out with a big ugly stick.

Oh, I get the POINT, just not the reason it had to look so hideous, when the MT03, 07 and 09 all look so damn good!

It's personal opinion of course but I find the entire Yamaha MT range styling a bit off. It's messy in a transformer manner. Having said that with a few mods I'd own one. Speaking of MT09 mods this render gets stuff stirring.

XSR900 all the way-Retro stylng with all the modern stuff, the only changes made since intro in 2016 is the tank cover colours.
Pop a small screen on one if you want to go touring.Love em.Three cylinder crossplane is smooth as silk and has both torque and HP to burn.

I've got a loaner MT-07 LAMS today. It's been de-restricted, whatever that means.

Lovely wee bike. Rides like the XSR I had a go on some time back. I suspect that an XSR700 (which is actually a 660) is a compromise model choice here. Not too many people would go the full power XSR700 when there's an XSR900 available.

I like the colour of the XSR900, the denim blue one.

Had a blast on an MT09 a while back. I don't know much about motors other than how to ride them. The grin I had told me the MT09 is a hooligans bike.

It's interesting that they claim to be able to derestrict them when the LAMS and HO versions have different cc and engine internals.

I agree, it sounds suspect. LAMs version is 655cc engine vs full power is 689cc engine. It's the same engine, but LAMs one has cylinder sleeves making it narrower. Without opening up the engine and doing funky stuff, it can't be derestricted.

XSR900 is 847cc engine, completely different beast.

Don't you know? Just cut the brown wire and it expands the cylinders and pistons to the un restricted version

Just picked up a copy of Motorcycle Trader tonight at the supermarket. Has a review on the Tracer - no read yet.

Any update OP? I made the mistake of going to the dealer today, too many temptations.
