The NZ Police did a sterling job (even though the Shooter in his Manifesto stated he would not attack the Police), Jacinda did an absolutely sterling job, St Johns did a Sterling job, The Hospital staff that will be pulling super-human hours are also doing a Sterling job.
There are some very interesting conversations to come, especially around whether certain groups will use this to further their agenda/viewpoint.
Final thoughts - I'm critical of certain tenants and sects within Islam, some people have equated my critique as being synonymous with the views espoused by the Shooter - so I want to say this to both be crystal clear and to show on what points of principle I stand:
This was a Horrid attack, against defenseless people (One brave man did manage to tackle the shooter, before being shot - presumably he is amongst the fatalities - if so, he deserves a George Cross Medal), pre-meditated and viscous. It is as Vile and Repugnant as any other Terrorist attack and deserves condemnation of the highest order.

It's not so funny when it happens in your own back yard.
Lets go Brandon
clearly the words i chose seem to be making it almost a trivial event, it was not, it was early in the peice and i was getting frustrated with the vast differences they were reporting, would rather they said nothing on numbers to be honest, then i went bush for a day or so with no internaughty to correct it, it's a dark period for nz, not to be trivialised.
You were not alone. Normally I'm a news junkie but last night and today I've been avoiding the news. It isn't a New Zealand phenomenon, it's international. Early on after any major drama or tragedy there are few or no details available, but they feel the need to keep talking even though there is nothing to say.
There is a grey blur, and a green blur. I try to stay on the grey one. - Joey Dunlop
Pretty shocked by the entire episode. Targeting innocent people going about a regular peaceful activity.
As a matter of scale, a similar attack in the UK, would equate to around 700 people dead. If it were in the USA, the number would be almost 3,500. That’s more than the death toll from the tragic events of September 11th, 2001. Yes I know it is not a competition, but my point is that this is huge for NZ.
Everyone will know someone affected. Might be a good time to call up an old mate, work colleague, family member etc. to let them know they are in your thoughts.

so they claim bishop tamaki 'slams' the call to prayer, he wasn't keen on it but is that a good choice of words from our esteemed media?
