Since I haven't been on the track before, should I select "novice" even if I might be too fast for that group? (I may not be, will have to wait and see...)

I'm not sure which group I fit into, I'm semi fastish, but I'm on a 250
And I've not been on a track yet. (Hope to change that between now and then)

I'd like to think I'm at the fast end of medium, but I don't think I'm quite at the slow end of fast yet.
