Suzuki GN250 Starter Motor Brush Replacement

    Hi all,

I recently bought a 2004 Suzuki GN250 and have been giving it some love and going through the service maintenance list to check everything’s where it needs to be and getting to know the bike.

The other day I took apart the starter motor to find that the carbon/copper brushes inside were shot and in need of replacement.

I’ll go ahead and admit I am new to motorcycles and unsure of where to get replacement parts and servicing done locally that wont break my wallet or have me faffing about with someone looking to take advantage.

All advice is welcome, thanks in advance everyone!

    Based in East Central Auckland.

Try an electrical repair shop. Like, a place that services washing machines or electric motors.

I'm just impressed in this throwaway world that something is being repaired.

Talking of starter motors, when you open one up to look at the brushes and half the magnets fall out does that mean it is time for a new one?

Bloody thing is three years old.

EDIT - Turns out the answer is yes.
