kiwi honey cured streaky bacon is much preferred over hellers plastic but as kickaha has stated, Rai valley bacon is awesome, well it used to be, I haven't had it for many years. we used to send our pigs over there to get made in to bacon and ham
Bacon isn't that great, dunno what all the fuss is about. The Germans got it right with sausage.
They are wurst.
If your fridge is big enough or you live in the chilly south make yer own bacon..
It's easy peasy and exceedingly tasteriffic.
Salt down a pork belly for a few days, clean it, then cold smoke to the desired colour / flavour and allow to air dry for a week or two at <5c
If you hanker to hipster smear with maple and bourbon before smoking.
Sausages are easy too, but require a bit of investment and practice.
I've often toyed with the idea of starting a sausage club..No sniggering at the back!
Getting a few mates together to chip in for a decent mincer and extruder then getting together once a month to make batches of sausages, share craft beers, beard grooming tips and compare man buns and brown seat upholstery.
A couple of aspects have put me off so far.![]()
Manopausal.
Ohh, more eggs arrived. From otaki or somewhere and all size 8 or more. Nice eggs make all the difference.

Ok so we have accepted jesus into our lives and Pack Save Crosaints. For many years with the bacon and the eggs and the bbq sauce.
But now they seem to have stopped making them.
We renounce Jesus. You total cunt. Why Why Why?

I threw out the dregs of the tomato sauce over xmas. It has been replaced for all purposes at #4 by Sriracha. Apparently i am not allowed bacon for health reasons. Which means if i want it i have to organise it myself

Feiry Sriracha is a lot hotter than the 4 on the outside of the bottle. Have some in fridge at werk.
I have a bottle of 10 Reaper going currently. You have to be well careful with that.
We've been using sweet baby ray bbq sauce and homemade grainy bread when we couldn't get the frozen cook yourself croissants which were remarkably good. But alas no longer made by local p&s. Don't think many knew about them.

I bought some of that Culleys (I think) #10 reaper at work. Its good but damn - spicy. Sure perks up the avo on toast though. If you havent tried it I buy Kaitaia Fire hotsauce in preference to Tabasco - It has more flavour and is about as spicy. Tabasco is very vinegar-y. MMMMMMMM
what's for lunch?

They even do a buffalo wing sauce that ironically is better on beef than chicken.
Lunch? Just over the Wairarapa on the 765 and consumed a bacon and egg pie.
This was a great dredge, most fun. Thanks guys.
