The number of deaths is about the same for both.

I just put down my sandwich and googled that. The number of ppl killed attempting to summit Everest is north of 300 according to Wikipedia

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._Mount_Everest

    and 259 at the TT.

Not sure how you would compare the two - perhaps deaths per kilometre travelled vs deaths per metre ascended? (though life becomes significantly more dangerous above 8000m)

The TT has been going a LOT longer than people have been climbing Everest though so deaths/yr?

Not sure that they really are comparable in any fair way.

    RIP Daley

throwing numbers as it shows simply how uninformed you are.
the tt has been going since 1907 for a starter
the ratio of climbers who climb everest versus deaths is vastly different than that of the TT quite simply, you sound like the sort of person who reads everything in the media and doesn't once think that the truth's been twisted just a little.

Lies, damned lies and statistics, and all that. Just as well the TT doesn't include the deaths from Mad Sunday each year, The TT course open and so are the pubs. The worlds fastest pub crawl?

I've often thought that would be the one day a year when you would stay off your bike and in the boozer because there would be a lot of amped up McGuinness wannabes out on the road that day......

I noted that TV news did a bit on the TT death. The only time the IOM TT will ever mentioned of course...

10 spectators died the year I went and no racers. Mostly boozed up germans on the wrong side of the road was the popular opinion at the time.
