Thanks Steve for the updates I have really enjoyed your insiders view. Glad it went well.

Very interested in the hoo-ha about those engines. I was aware through reading Performance Bikes magazine about the way BMW do that (Michael Rutter and his crew chief have columns and they did a feature recently) but the idea of field stripping it then reassembling it on a deadline does not appeal.

The stripping of winners and placegetters engines has always been a feature of the IOM. I've got magazines from the 50's and 60's where the condition of engines was reported by witnesses to the stripping. Phil Irving in particular could be very terse. You probably wouldn't have wanted him watching it, LOL.

Getting them back together has sometimes been a problem too. There's a story about the works TTF1 Hondas being reassembled on the boat - on the way to the post TT meeting at Mallory Park. Obviously it was less of a problem when all you had to do was lift the head on a Manx Norton...

Looking at the pic of the latest BMW, the engine would be the easy part....

Spent the last day in UK at Brands watching BSB practice.
The Hickey team are on to the overheating problem with the BMW.
Its rather a complex issue & im sure they are on the right track.
However its probably not a topic for public discussion. Pm u later grumph.
Saw this Triumph in a display.
It was a finalist in a Triumph only custom bike competition.
There's a hint of X75 in it. Maybe just the paint tho.

Head down to Canterbury and visit my old digs. Nice town.

Thanks all for following along. I don't come on here much these days it must be said, but I see all the original pillars of the community are still around!
