Mike pero southern classic 2019 - sidecars

    Wednesday 15th of May 2019

Open letter to Sidecar Racers of New Zealand

    Hi All,
The CAMS club would like to extend a warm invitation to all sidecar teams in New Zealand to participate in the 2019 Mike Pero Southern Classic.
This years theme is all about celebrating sidecar racing through the years.

The Mike Pero Southern Classic will run from Friday Nov 29th till Sunday 1st December at Levels Raceway, Timaru. Friday being practice followed by 2 days of racing.
Subject to sufficient numbers of entrants we are looking at running two race groups for sidecars this year with trophies for all the age classes within the groups:
    • Sidecar Group 1 - Vintage, Pre63, Pre72 & Pre82 sidecars
    • Sidecar Group 2 - Pre89, Pre95 and Modern sidecars

You can expect 4-5 practice and qualifying sessions Friday and 5 races over the Sat and Sun.

We can offer free entry to sidecar teams for the weekend and our intention, subject to sponsorship income is be able to offer a modest sum per North Island team towards travel costs, plus free tickets to the Sat night BBQ onsite. We will set an area aside in the pits for Sidecar teams.
Camping is allowed onsite with basic shower and toilet facilities (and is encouraged), there is a bar onsite open every night, it’s a fun, relaxed event with a festival atmosphere.

We’d love to have you there, for more information and expressions of interest please contact myself or event co ordinator Sue van den Heuvel (we are both sidecar racers to).

We have already had expressions of interest from approx 10 NI classic outfits, 4 SI vintage, pre72, Pre82 outfits and 3-4 modern/pre89 outfits

    Regards
