Maori journalism is normally non partisan and very honest. Sadly here Moana tries a hit piece ambush on David including linking to trump tactics etc Ut h keeps his dignity and wipes the floor with Moana with his concise responses making for great interview.

The funniest thing is near end she mentions crime is over reported in nz with one in six news articles about crime. She neglects to mention who she thinks this affects....

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/polit...-the-same.html

ACTS justice spokesperson Nicole McKee said on Monday the Government should be standing up to gangs, not having a cup of tea with them. But Newshub can reveal she's been engaging with them herself

When the Mongrel Mob submitted at a select committee in March, McKee was quite complimentary of their community work. Afterwards, she asked for a meeting.
"If I had time, she wanted to meet with me. She just had some things to discuss," says Lou Hutchinson, the Waikato Mongrel Mob Kingdom's public relations representative.

No doubt, as far as I know the kingdom is the name of the Waikato chapter maybe the name mongrel mob had some negative connotations?
not that surprised they have a PR person though....if they came up with 100K maybe they could have a National PM?

This banning gang patches is going to be a total disaster.
Just listen to the Opotoki police...."We are run off our feet already, this will take more resources and staff to manage". Minister of Police "they just need to get it done with what they have". What an abject fucking WANKER.

So the main thrust is stop kids signing up to the "cool" gangs.
What is the fastest way to get a kid to rebel and seek to be cool? Yep, ban something. You cannot tell me the pollies do not realize this.
This is just a wanker national/act stunt that will blow up in theirs and our faces.
    National/act = poser wankers.

banning the gang patches is one policy I agree with.
I don't see it as being to stop kids thinking they are cool but using the patch as a form of intimidation.
If it works might be another matter.
Gang patches have been banned at the Greymouth Street race for over 30 years.
Gangs should be deemed to be illegal criminal organisations and members should have increased sentences if sentenced.

For many years bike-centric events have had a "no patches, dogs, attitudes" condition of entry and largely it works well (in the events - Brass Monkeys, Cold Kiwis, Sulphur City, and other rallies - I have attended). These may not be the type of events that the hard core 1%ers attend but I can only go by my experience. Asking people to co-operate usually works. Trying to force people to co-operate by use of threats often has the opposite effect.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Yes, I agree, patches are intimidating. Though, now they are tattooing them on their faces etc as well. I'm not convinced that removing some cloth from their backs are going to make these handsome young men any less intimidating.
My biggest problem for me is that the government is not supplying more resources, ie more police to undertake the task.
