    My memory may be failing me here, but here goes;
    Some of the GS n GSX ign switches had an anti theft diode in there build. If this diode fails it wont allow the engine to fire even though it had voltage to them.
    Case in point were Bandits used for stunt riding. Some tried to do away with the original ign switch, and found the bike wouldn't start.
    Apparently it's an easy fix by fitting an external diode to trick the igniter.

    I just bought a new ign switch. Easy test would be to locate another bike and try its switch.

    Yup, tried that, nothing obvious damn it, there a good utube video of a guy doing a couple of these units and how to test them on the bench.
