    A sad event

Wasn't sure where to put this post, but wanted to let you all know. A friend of hXc hanged himself this morning. hXc may not be on for a day or two as he is very upset. He also lost a nephew only a month ago.
Yungatart has been helping 270 Year 10 kids get through today.
Note to parents - Please love your kids & look out for them always. Talk to them all you can.
Note to younger members here. If you have issues that are troubling you, Please talk to your folks or at least to someone who cares.
We do not want to have this sort of thing happen so needlessly.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Bugger mate. Im sorry to hear that, but your message is clear.
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

Good call to post this mate... sorry to hear about what happened... I can't think of anything worse to find or be affected by.

How old was the person that died?

    Condolences to all affected

The boy was 14/15. If he could see the devastation among his friends, classmates, fellow students and staff.... It's been a rough day

surely there must be something terribly wrong when teenagers wake up one morning and decide that the next six or seven decades of life aren't worth hanging around for.

    but what?

is it because their brains are broken, and they need to be fixed with medication until they grow out of a random neural misconnection that's causing erratic irrationality?

is it because life's being so horrible to them that another few years of endurance are unbearable, and would cause such lasting damage that they might as well give up on existence now?

is it because the selfish little gits think that they're really boring and insignificant (probably true), will be dead one day in any case, and might as well cause as much of an impact as they can while there are still people who care about them?

there must be a common causal thread.

but I've never experienced it first-hand, so would anyone who has care to comment?

there is a causal common thread - it's recognising it BEFORE it happens that is the challenge.

and i've experienced it - too many times - but i'm still affected deeply by it.

'commenting' on it after the event is comforting for some, too much for others, and i would suggest that here is not the place for a general discussion on the deeper reasons for suicide.

Mstrs and Yungatart please give Zac a big hug from me. Suicide is devastating, especially when it is someone so young.

Fish, my two cents worth.... in my job I obviously deal with suicides and attempted suicides on a regular basis. From my own personal experience I hit rock bottom a few years ago after some pretty horrible things happened to me. I had trouble seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and I did contemplate suicide. Thankfully I couldn't go through with it, and with a few life enhancing experiences since then I had a change in attitude and now have a positive outlook on life.

When I go to someone who has attempted suicide I take the time to listen to them and be empathetic in the short time that they are in my care. Sadly I often get them to hospital and then they are looked after in the first instance by a nurse who's had a bad day and can't be bothered with another 'attention seeker'. So often these people fall through the cracks in the mental health system. These people are making a cry for help - if you know someone like this people please be there for them. It can be extremely difficult, but please persevere.

Sometimes tho, there is no cry for help. IF there were warning signs they were so subtle that people only realise after the event. Often these people have led seemingly happy lives and there seems to be no rhyme or reason for it. The only person who knew what was happening in their heads was them.

The people left behind deserve our deepest sympathy.

Condolences to all affected by the sad turn of events...
Wish we could see when someone is troubled and try to help them. Words are difficult to come by in these circumstances and our heartfelt sympathy to Mstrs, Yungatart, hXc and friends and family of the young lad so tragically departed.

kinda close to home.... I have cuts all over my body from when I was younger, had major problems... but counselling got me straight, probably wouldn't be here if it wasn't for counseling. They don't make teens aware enough about it though.
