    Torque setting

I'm fucked if I can find any technical specs for a 1981 DR500. I just want to find out what the big nut holding the clutch basket on, torque setting would be. It's certainly got to be more than the finger tight one I am looking at now. Which I'm guessing is why the clutch was not working properly...

...thought so, sounds accurate enough for me...haven't got one so a bit of armstrong motion will have to suffice...

You guys are slipping. No one has said "tighten till it strips then back it off quarter of a turn". Also if the architecture is similar to other "big" suzukis of the time you could get a ballpark from that: thinking RM370/RM400/DR370 that sort of thing.

I had a look around, had better luck searching for SP500 of the same year, found a few manuals online but they wanted me to sign up to get them.

People use torque wrenches for this sort of shit ?

...generally not I, but was interested to know whether it was tight or fucking tight...it would just mean the difference between one good blow with a heavy thing or two...and it's not my clutch...

I've only ever guessed it with a decent size bar. But 'fucken tight' is the goal.
