Aprilia NZ has confirmed that the RS 660 will launch in New Zealand and Australia before anywhere else in the world, expected in November 2020. Price is yet to be confirmed but Aprilia NZ expects it to be in the vicinity of $20k.

About what I expected price wise but long wait for stock. Gives a man lots of time to save up if keen. Hmmm.

If they do, they would need to market it and support it much better than the Caponord 1200. A terrific machine in its class that was criminally left out in the cold.

Sounds like the RS660 model is nearly here. Ive ordered a Tuono, expected in August. No hurry, will be a nice present in the spring. I've gone for the Iridium grey:

I made the mistake of sitting on a Tuono 1000 in the bike shop today. In 20 years of riding, I've never sat on a bike that felt so ergonomically right for me.

As I'd just spent a grand on a service and year's rego on my existing bike (I was waiting to pay for the service), I found enough willpower to walk away without taking it for a test ride. But, if I ever part ways with my Street Triple, I'll definitely be giving one a try.

I followed a Tuono 1100 on a ride last summer. Only bike that's ever made the R1 feel slow.

I'm intrigued by your comment on the ergos, but probably not a very sensible option.

I rode a mates 1100 Tuono. It was a very silly motorcycle. I found it too upright once on the move and bars too wide so it felt twitchy. But jezuz did it honk. Did the longest and fastest wheelie I've done as well as lots of suplimentry ones (he'd disabled the anti wheelie)

I came back giggling but scared. He said "you don't have to ride it like that " I said " yeah, you kinda do"

I'd like to ride the 660 RS.

Aprilia Recalling RS 660, Tuono 660 For Con Rod Problem

Not quite so good for a new model, hopefully no NZ units are included in the recall.

    Summary

Aprilia is recalling certain 2021 RS 660 and Tuono 660 motorcycles. The engine crankshaft connecting rod may break due to improper heat-treatment. Remedy

Dealers will replace the engine, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in July 2021. Owners may contact Aprilia customer service at 1-212-380-4400. Aprilia’s number for this recall is PA2ZZQ2107.

    Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

    Who's ridden one?

Has anyone on here actually ridden one of these yet? Either the RS or the Tuono?

I'd be really curious to hear what they thought.

Your post certainly caught my eye... Should I hold off on pulling the pin on a T7?

Probably not, the Prilla would be competing directly against the 790 KTM with the same potential negatives.

    Interesting thought though!
The Aprilia Tuareg 660 looks alright, but I'd still go with the Tenere 700.

As for if anyone has ridden the new 660s in NZ, someone said the RS660s arrived in NZ ports in May, but only recently Motorad in Lower Hutt got one in. Motorazzi said they'd have one in a couple of months. Seems like there is a waiting list

$19,995 for a 660 twin is a bit of a stretch . The Tuareg does look better than the T7 but if it's close to $20k as well that's steep. Mind you the T7 is $17.3k which is also getting up there. Will be interesting to see what the KTM490 twin adventure goes for when it turns up.

They certainly look sharp. Hopefully they can get on top of the issues.

The Tuono's aren't here yet (or maybe sitting in the Hauraki gulf or in a container on a wharf such is shipping today ) but there's a dude on the Aprilia Forum from Tauranga who's had his RS for a couple of weeks now and loves it. Quote: " its a beautiful machine and handles like a charm".
