    Aprilia RS660

As a Pro Twins racer I have been following this one with interest for the past year since it was revealed as a concept at the EICMA show in Milan.
Looks like the covers are going to be lifted on the production model next week. Should blow the doors off the existing Japanese 650's.

I'm also watching with interest. My ideal bike is one which is super light with great handling, yet still comfortable to ride on a long trip. This looks like potentially ticking all of those boxes, especially if the claimed wet weight numbers turn out to be accurate.

That was exactly the criteria I used for my KTM 790, being an old bugger with shot knees. No regrets whatsoever in buying one and although I've only done 600 km in one hit on it just stopping for gas, it was surprisingly comfortable. There's definitely something to be said for light bikes. The Street Triple I owned was the most comfortable of all the bikes I've done the 1600 km/24 hour Rusty Nuts rides on.

I totally agree about the Street Triple. I did the 1KC on it last year: 1300km door to door and it was still comfortable.

Looks good. I'm hoping that they do a naked version along the lines of the Shiver. That would be interesting.

    It has finally been revealed:

    https://www.asphaltandrubber.com/bik...a-rs-660-eicma

    It certainly looks the part:

It's supposedly 101 PS and 169kg dry. I wonder what the sale price will be.

I'm definitely looking forward to riding one back to back with my Street Triple.

    Walk around clip

Looks great, 100 HP, 169kg dry, 270 degree crank for good sound, clip ons on top of the yoke for us 50 yr olds Lol.
Just wanna know the price now

Apparently they're teasing an adventure bike as well.

I initially only glimpsed at this thread. Lovely prospect of a bike but no longer my cup of tea.

Your post certainly caught my eye... Should I hold off on pulling the pin on a T7?

Probably not, the Prilla would be competing directly against the 790 KTM with the same potential negatives.

    Interesting thought though!

It's got two wheels the same colour so that's a good start!
They're both smashing looking bikes. Going to be pricey though. Aprilia NZ are predicting around the 20K mark.

I rarely even notice 'sportsbikes' these days but that RS660 is a sweet looking thing and by all accounts a light but fast, middle weight twin may be a seller.
100hp from a 660 twin !!!! Remember not that many years ago 600 inline fours were just achieving about 100hp.

Oooh, very nice. I really wanted an rs250, but I can't justify $5000 engine rebuilds.

Will keep a close eye on this!
