True Lou but that is significant in its self, let alone all the other enterprises that govt don't need to be involved in. Electricity, Railways, Roading, Health, Education, Etc Etc. I believe there should be much less govt intervention in our lives and I am what I consider to be a pinko mild capitalist.
If you read the info on the "Libertarian party" site, it is more like what the Govt's role should be. IMO. I think they are nearer the mark. Thanks to some KB Poster they directed me to that (Libertarian) site and I found it quite enlightening. Thanks for replying anyway I raised it to test view points on the subject. Cheers John.

Well, credibility of the force has taken another hit with me. Y'see, I live on a state highway, and outside, right now, as all weekend, is a roadworks zone posted at 30Km/hr. So who slows down to 30? Bloody early no-one! A few old nanas might have got down to 30, most bikers and (get this) boy racers dropped down to 50 or less, but Mr Average Family Man and Mr (and Ms) Plod see fit to carry on through at 90-100. Then, no doubt, the Plods will have been merrily pinging people for doing 113K on a perfectly good bit of road...

My limited knowledge of the Libertarian Party leads me to think that I couldn't afford personal security, let alone all the other Govt services I would have to supply for myself.

    I don't see a commitment. Just a committee meeting.

I dunno about splitting the cops/police. Most police I know don't like pulling of people for traffic offences (unless they totally have to). Cops on the other hand take great pleasure in pulling over people for any minor indiscretion possible.

U no speaky engrish??? By cops you mean traffic officers? All police I have had pull me up in the last 18 months (2 tickets of 113, and 1 of 116, all on my bike) have taken great delight in in handing me a a piece of paper telling me what a criminal I am!!!!!!!!! I even had a joke with the last one that I told him the bike had been in the garage for 5 weeks and it needed a run, I was going downhill and I might as well turn around and ride the 2 kms home cos the feeling of freedom I experience on my bike was hereby fucked. He just laughed and said not to be like that. Why wouldn't I feel that way????

    They won't split police,
    a) They currently are doing everything the government could want
    b) It would cost more, and possibly do a lesser job

So Uncle Helen is going to another footy game then??? Don't worry, her driver will get off in court!
