    Dakar 2020

In case anyone is suffering withdrawal from the lack of WSBK and MotoGP?

The Dakar is back in Africa, currently Morocco, and has just got underway in the last day or so, I was pleased to see Sky is covering it. Coverage of Day 1 & 2 on right now but may be repeated.

On a bike specific note: Brit Lyndon Poskitt who has ridden a couple of Dakars as a solo rider, this time has a five bike team with two service vehicles, and four mechanics. There is also a media wagon. His aim is to provide extensive coverage of his team of KTM riders: I think a Brit, a Yank, two South Africans and an Aussie.

His YouTube channel is "Race 2 Dakar 2020". He's up to about episode six because he covered the extensive preparations. His channel is well worth a follow.

I've been following the 2020 Dakar in Saudi here

That link is day 1 on Redbull TV, all the rest to date should be up, too.

I notice there is the Dakar and the Eco Rallye. Must have a squiz, I assumed, at a glance, the Eco Rallye was part of the Dakar, maybe not.

Some of the footage and landscapes from Saudi are incredible.
    Manopausal.

So too did I. What I was watching was happening in Morocco. The branding mentioned Saudi Arabia but I thought that might be the destination.

OK so I will set the TV to record one and watch the other on YouTube. Funny that they're both referred to as Dakar?

    Further research is needed.

OK what Poskitt is doing is the Africa Eco Rally. I guess that gives us two events to watch. Strange.

There is a Kiwi rider in it as well, Phillip Wilson, I'd watch Dakar over MotoGP anyday

I would love to see what would show up if there was a true open class, although the 450s would more than likely be quicker.

Sad day on Dakar. Bike rider Paulo Conzales lost his life doing what he loved.
A veteran of 13 Dakars and will be missed. RIP
