Bike mechanics in (or near) Hamilton

    Hey guys

Just wondering if anyone has any mechanic recommendations around Hamilton?

I've tried the main outfits like Honda but am getting crazy quotes to get the valves checked on my CB919. I know it's a time consuming job, but $1k+ seems excessive.

Google doesn't seem to think there are any other options in Hamilton so figured I'd check if you chaps had any recommendations?

    Thanks in advance.

Here's tyhe manual to show you whats invlolved https://www.manualslib.com/manual/10...page=60#manual you can download a pdf of it.Owners manual for regular checks. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/67...age=135#manual

A grand seems a bit off though. Camshafts have to come off to replace any shims but it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours in the worse with every shim needing replacement.

Yeah, they did my Ducati. No complaints. That was $800 and change, but it was seven or eight years ago.

The big services often seem to run $800 to $1000 and up. If a mechanic is going to be working on the bike most of the day, that's what it will cost. I'm assuming a proper service, replacing brake fluid, engine oil, filters, etc etc.

Of course, he could PM Katman for a quote?

Thanks guys. I did get a quote from Hamilton Motorcycle Centre but was close to a grand too. Maybe that's just what it costs.

Generally I'm keen to work on my bike myself (I do my own servicing usually) but checking the valve clearances sounds a bit intense!

Thanks mate. I hadn't thought of Boyd.

Went in there earlier. 1.5 hours to check the clearances, then about another 2 hours per cam to replace any shims if necessary. So at worst it'll be $500ish, which I can live with.
