    Hobby interest other than motorcycles.

For quite some time I've had an on and off interest in older computer. Specifically the late '80s to early '90s. Predominantly x86 stuff and the operating systems of the time. I also have a variety of Acorn machines and a lonely Mac SE. Good for wasting away those days where the weather isn't the best.

What are the rest 0f you interested in?

I love Lego. Only Technic, and only the big kits that they bring out once a year-ish

Just a few I've built in the last few years:

    https://www.lego.com/en-nz/product/b...xcavator-42055

    https://www.lego.com/en-nz/product/r...in-crane-42082

    https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/m...ocs-3245-42043

Currently I'm on the last section of this beast:

    https://www.lego.com/en-nz/product/l...SP-RN-Priority

Which already has the power-functions working and is hella fun to drive - very similar control scheme to the real thing.

Ha! I still have a Sinclair Spectrum in working order. I really ought to get it out of the loft for nostalgia's sake.

My other interests are around water-based activities. My wife and I have a couple of kayaks for when we feel energetic . I used to sail competitively at national level in Paper Tiger catamarans (photo attached) but my knees are too buggered for that now. Instead, we now have a Stabicraft runabout which we use for sea fishing. We launch at the end of our street and can be at some great spots for snapper 10 minutes later. When I stop riding, fishing will be my fall-back interest. We also travel a fair bit before we get too worn out Saw my Paper Tiger at Hobsonville Yacht Club a couple of years ago,

Nice guys. There's a big Spectrum comminty with lots interesting things you wouldn't thought would have been done with them when they first appeared.
Was the piano a childhood thing Katman? I'm tone deaf, well according to wifey anyway. Our grand kids luv lego.

The old machine I use most is a Zenith Z286LP Plus. It's a 286/12, has 8megs of ram, a 400meg had drive and runs Windows 3.1 fairly well. It's my primary IRC(Internet Relay Chat) box.

PC gaming, specifically VR racing and flying sims. It's next level in terms of immersion and is also beneficial in some degree of pain regulation for me (the immersion is so good seeing a left arm operating can sometimes trick my brain). I don't get into online gaming, just time by myself. Family is my main priority though so I normally only go in once they've all gone to bed.

Started playing at 6. Went on to do the first two years of a piano performance degree - until I realised I didn't have what it would take to be a concert pianist.

Dropped out of university, became a mechanic and barely even looked at a piano for the next 30 years.

Decided to get back into it about 3 years ago.

A grand piano and a Banksy? Business must be good.

Any particular composers that you liked?

Rachmaninov, Joplin and Chopin list highly for me.

I would dearly love to be able to do Rachmaninov justice.

I play a fair bit of Chopin - although I lack the technical ability to cope with his more difficult pieces.

i have a customer who spent $around $100k on a piano, it's soothing to listen to him while working. remember the glaziers were there one day using his piano stool as a workbench till i told them it was likely worth more than their van....

there's too many variables in motorcycles to even think about something else, currently i'm researching and writing a guide to all nz road race circuits over time, very interesting what i'm finding in that field as well as other stuff not pertaining to this too
