I see that Britain are letting it run through the population, isolating the most vulnerable.
Good strategy I reckon

Think that you'll find that Germany lost many of its nuclear physicists (from the
early 1930's onwards) for obvious reasons. To the gain of the UK and US.

And that the German nuclear programme never extended beyond an experimental
stage.
Aided by several other actions:

Could be politically very dangerous. If let's say the death rate is at the low end of the 0.7-3% sometimes quoted that is still 1/2 a million people dead. Ok dividing that by a smaller amount if they can get it to peter out, divide it by any number you choose, it will be a lot of people.
And a lot of angry people over this decision.
Dangerous. And possibly violent.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
Phone call today..an Australian wanting to book a room at our Motel. We pointed out about the isolation policy, and for when he returns to Aussie..another two weeks. He wasn't really clear on the terms, but there is no way in hell that he can come and stay here, then self isolate while catching up with his mates (he is coming over for a party) He thought the isolation period only in place for the next was 14 days. How many times did we have to explain this to him? 4-5 times but he kinda got it in the end.
Hopefully not introduced for the next 3 weeks. My wife is visiting family in Devon and she, like me is over 70. I have doubts about any western nation being able to adequately look after the vulnerable and elderly, let alone visitors to the UK. (Not that I think of myself as elderly and riding a Duke 790 proves it)
Thanks for the reply. I have to say that I am just much less optimistic. I guess that time will tell.

The Comments section has some interesting comments on the "herd" approach (immunity across the population).
Cheers.

Watched Stephen Colbert today, wife home sick so the TV was on, and he was presenting to an empty crowd, well, the people from the office. He gave the best description of the situation to date. Paraphrased: It's about balance. But how do you balance the virus when you don't know whether it's the equivalent of a feather or a brick.
I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!
Interesting that you make that implication. I recently watched the propaganda movie the National Socialist German Workers' Party (AKA Nazis) produced based on the 1930s Nuremberg Rallies. (Reference to the movie was made in Clive James' Cultural Amnesia book). If you want to view it find it yourself as I'm not comfortable linking to it.
The similarity between the crowds' reaction to Hitler and that of the MAGA crowds to Trump was striking, and disturbing to say the least![]()
The parallels are scary: https://www.newsweek.com/hitler-inco...pinion-1408136
