Way too fast for a young man like me. Uphill yes. . . Or rather fictitious God willing, but downhill, that's another kettle of calamari.

Last time I tried to be a smart arse on a downhill I got a Helicopter ride, some titanium bits to hold my rib cage together, a torn aorta, a punctured lung, a broken collarbone, an induced coma and a stint on a ventilator and I was going a fuck sight slower than him

Pity they didn't cancel todays ride, it would have saved me standing in the rain for 4 hours waiting for the trail to close so I could be towed out after cooking the clutch on the mighty IT200

I heard reports the mighty lT was seen having a break! And that the mud was epic! I was scared off by the forecast but apparently it wasn't that bad.

I will not lie, I am happy to be a fair weather trail rider. I have road ridden 4 hours in the pouring cold rain and done the same ride when the temperature was 0 degrees.
ridden through porters pass wiping snow off my visor every 10 seconds. I have even road raced with snow on the ground but I find nothing more soul destroying than
being wet cold covered in mud and stuck in a gully on some cockies farm.

Looking forward to Orura Downs next week. Its sandy country which is nice mid winter. Deep mud or clay in general sucks.

They aren't, I have others here but I'll just buy a new set of steels and fibres as they're not that expensive

'The Peaks' ride today out the back of Hawarden today. Stunning ride. Weather mint, track mostly dry. Mid winter rides don't come any better.
