Next time you register you don't pay the ACC portion of the rego for the period of the lockdown.

    Piece of piss.

What of those who have been using their bikes? Emergency workers getting to work. Joe Average using his bike for his supermarket shop.

Should we exclude them from the discount? Hey, ask for free beer too. It's just as likely.

Nah, the month still happened so I had lots of to write. Not about riding though, just paying for the riding that I am not allowed to do.

You could have used it, legally, to go to the supermarket. You chose not to. I presume.

No need ... some are getting a free six month rego and wof. Not a bad discount all said and done.

Can we have another pandemic in 12 months .. ???

Legal maybe ... but it may not have been sensible or practical. Or even that much fun even.

Don't forget ... for some the bike is their only form of transport.

Indeed. And everyone with any type of vehicle was subject to the same restrictions. It wasnt just bikes.

My bad. When I was thinking about fairness I forgot we are talking about ACC. It makes perfect sense to continue to collect the same amount of money when the risk has dropped to a pretty much negligible level due to restrictions on travel.

Not free. When you rego after the up to 6 month DELAY, the rego starts from the date your last one expired. So if your delay was 5 months and you bought 6 months, you'd only have 1 month left. They are giving us nothing.

Except my 4 litre Jaguar XJ6 costs $170 a year. My wifes Mitsubishi Mirage costs $100. My bikes cost $540 a year. Big difference.

Well the good news is ... all mine are up to date. Lost nothing.

I stuck the panniers on and did a grocery shop at the other end of town.

    Such is life in lockdown.

If what I've read today is correct, the approach is that you'll be advised by NZTA the new expiry dates for COF / WOF once lock down is over. More relevant of course when it's COF for truck fleets of 100+, as opposed to individuals with one or two bikes
