Licence, WoF and CoF expiry during Covid

Details of how NZTA are managing licence, WoF and CoF expiry during COVID-19

    https://nzta.govt.nz/about-us/corona...-general-faqs/

None of mine expire any time soon, so nil implications for me. I've posted this as a heads up for anyone affected.

Looks to me that NZTA hasn't extended anything, just stopped it from being an offence if it expires.

I was able to put more Rego on our car without a current WOF, will have to get WOF once we are freed from our cells.
    Cheers Rastus for posting that

The DOTR are doing the same here in the Philippines, and giving some grace for peeps to catch up.

WoF due on bike any day. I'm booked for a Ride Forever gold course next month, so I'll try to get a new WoF before that - if WoF testers aren't too busy to fit me in. Good to know I won't get in any trouble if there are delays in getting the WoF.

    Thanks for the info rastuscat.

I've got 2 bikes and a trike with current rego. That's approximately $150/month that I cannot get use of over the lockdown. Compare that to gym membership, where it is illegal for them to charge monthly membership fees if they are not providing a service (latest bulletin from Consumer NZ). What service am I receiving from my bike rego? As the largest part of this is for the ACC and I am representing absolutely zero risk from my bikes, I think we should at least get this credited.

you are allowed to travel to various places though, that's your choice not to go out to these.

Thanks again Rastus, my license is about to expire and needing renewal. Does anyone know if they're still using those daft, uncalibrated, non-maintained eyesight checking machines imported from Australia? I had to go and pay an optometrist last time.

Unfortunately, as a Type 1 diabetic I have a compromised immune system so I'm in total lockdown

I've pondered how they could apply a rego refund. It kind of makes sense (not really though) in an odd way. The gubbermint has told us not to use bikes the way we do (recreationally, at least) so a discount might be nice.

But some people only ride their bike each sunny weekend, while others use them 7 days a week. While everyone pays the same (same bike, same rego).

It could be potentially the biggest administrative nightmare NZTA has ever had to deal with.

As much as a refund would be nice, I dont see how it could work.
