Anyone got one or ridden one, what did you think ?

I had one on my shortlist but a dry weight 221kg and a 12.9l fuel tank put me off. I would still like to ride one however, they look fun!

Saw one at Wgtn Motorcycles Petone last year. A fine looking machine. Beautifully styled. Seating position was a bit too sportsbike crampled for me, similar to the Speed Triple to sit on. I don't get the tyre choice of skinny semi-gravel rubber???? It looks clearly like a road sports/naked bike, not an adventure bike. And if they want to promote it as an adventure alternative then the small tank is a fail.

The designation FTR is presumably for Flat Track Racer. It is supposed to be in the style of a US style dirt track bike, thus the tyres.

Was reading about it earlier on the Indian NZ web site, and yes, the description states it's "The Flat tracker for the street..."

A good looking bike, but only enough fuel for riding around town posing... unless it is seriously fuel efficient for longer distances.

In which case give it tyres designed for the street. I doubt there are many potential buyers worldwide wanting to spend $25,000 for a bike built just to go round and round in a circle on dirt.

After looking at the web site again, there was reference to "Exclusive Dunlop flat track street tires" under the FTR 1200 info and I'd say it would apply to the 1200 S as well.

Thanks for your opinion guys. I test ride the KTM790 Adv R awhile ago and disappointed so looking at a wide range of options once were free range humans again.

Yeah I seen that already, regularly scan tm to keep eye on prices across various makes and models

Indian nz announced price drops but can’t change on dealer ads yet

Maybe also look at Husky's Vit Pillen, and Svart Pillen.
155kg and 75horses. Priced well now.

Well I got around to riding one and it was awesome. First impressions were of a quality feel to the build, great clutch and gearbox.
Moving off it feels lighter than it is and the power delivery and throttle response excellent.
Prob less than a km up road I knew I’d be buying one.
Yeah fuel range will require a bit of planning on longer rides and the tyres will make for fun rides, but the sum of all parts sometimes realises more than what a spec list says.
