His face seems familiar. I think he tried to sell me a Guzzi in a bike shop up the rd from Burswood Casino in Perth circa 1994. Took it for a ride, (it was a Daytona thou). Well flogged.
Bought a new Triumph Daytona 900 309, still got it. The guzzi wouldn't have lasted. Back then I thought he was a twat.
Also think he was tied up with Thourabred cycles also in Perth. Could be wrong about that though.

Fuck no. The local ones are actually quite intelligent, know where stock is - and can find their arse with either hand.

Repco in Hornby on the other hand - he'd fit right in there. Useless. They keep the rubbergrease locked away and only available if you ask.

Maybe there's a black market for it in Hornby ?

But on the evidence seen on TV and on line, Tauranga seems to be NZ's equivalent of Florida. A magnet for some strange people.

I can't be arsed doing the math, but California alone has 11 times the population of NZ.
Good point. I had this argument today but was only guessing. It's good to do the maths but also a bit scary...

I'm sure someone will be along shortly and correct me if I'm wrong:
80,000 is 0.025% of 328m. Not a big percentage I suppose. But then do the same sum for 5m: =1250, which seems pretty significant.

Of course, this is just hypothetical because the US haven't peaked yet...
Those bastards need to sort their shit out, it makes it harder for us to trade with them.

It's improved a lot since Gordie moved out

You ignored the "and counting" - and the fact that the US already has the highest death toll of any nation due largely to Trump's inaction.

The federal government and some of the state governors are forcing people back to work now with virtually no testing available. The virus could really take off.

We should have a better idea in a couple weeks.

They will be desperate for someone to trade with if they follow through with stopping trading with China. Of course, that won't happen, where else will Trump get his gay maga tat from?

I love lots of American things. With very few exceptions all the Americans I have known have been really nice people. Like I have never struck IRL the slavering MAGA heads or the Karens or whatever. Having said that like attracts like (and apparently a vanishingly small percentage of Yanks have passports) so the ones I have met are maybe the outliers? Who knows?

But American "stuff" - man they have the cool stuff. Cars up till 1972, electric guitars, rock and roll. Tesla. SpaceX, Blue Origin etc.

Let me tell you what I actually think. The high point of the American empire was July 20, 1969. Because landing those guys on the Moon, and bringing them back is the absolutely coolest thing we as a species have ever done. Literally it started going to shit after that. But that optimism, that devotion of tremendous efforts by hundreds of thousands of people, the invention of entire branches of technology, the coming back from awful setbacks, all of that stuff and to get it done the first go? Absolutely amazing. There's an apocryphal story that (just to take one example) that they could not build an F-1 rocket engine today because a lot of it is hand made, just a wee bit different from the blueprints, and the guy who knew how to do it? Yeah, he died. The coolest feature of the F1 engine (apart from the fact that it worked at all) - the fuel pump. Google that shit, its amazing.

Anyway: whats fucked about America now? Money. Large corporates. Because they own the politicians then oddly, the politicians cater to the 1%. It really is that simple. That is why their health system is fucked (unless you have money). That is why there is no meaningful change. That is why the cancer of racism will not go away. Thats why is been at war since Vietnam - they have an entire military industrial congressional complex to feed.

Will it get better soon? I dont see it. Will there be another civil war or secessions? I hope not in my lifetime.

The Karel Sroubek saga couldn't have been handled any worse than that Lees Galloway ding bat did either. The list goes on.
This, White Is and the Chch episode are the best things to have happened to labour. Great distractions from their day to day incompetence which the masses have largely forgotten about cause 'our Jacinda' is a really good baby kisser. Without them they would have nothing.

Yep Labour, fucking top notch except when it comes to actually running the country.

No. You've been in the US long enough to pick up the classic Trumpist "but what about" arguments. A couple of posts about how shit things are in the US and it's Divert and distract.
You're in the right place. Stay there, you really wouldn't like it here.

Personally, I'm bloody glad it's Labour in power atm. When I look at the shitheap National left when they tried to deal with the ChCh quakes I can only imagine how many would have died under national.
They would have had the same advice from the same experts - but interpreted it differently. You've only got to look at what Bridges has said during the lockdowns to get the gist of how they'd have gone.

I do wonder though if your anti Ardern attitude is anti women. You do come across as mysogynist and scared of strong women. Very Trumpist.

As I said, it is not about politics, it is great leadership in a crisis. You seemed to be determined to ignore that.
