    Registering a dirt bike (2000 CR250)

    Hi

I am wanting to purchase a 2000 Honda CR250 and was wondering if anyone knows the process of getting it registered or even if it is possible. I understand the main things it needs (headlight, tail light, speedo etc) but is their anything else to do with NZTA I should know of? Is it possible via alternative document forms?

    Kind Regards.

A mate 18 months back got his KX500 on the road all legal, he wired up a headlight, braked tail light number plate light and indicators.

What process did he do for that? Did he use the alternative document forms? If so documents did he present?

Pretty sure the frame dictates the eligibility to be made road legal. Pretty sure it's even a nightmare getting a CRF250X or 450X legal despite being wired up as is.

You cant do it legally you will need a statement of compliance to prove it meet the relevant build standards which it wont. Too hard basket Im affraid
