    PSA - motorcycle history

    Hey all,

if you're considering buying this "straight, original" 2005 Triumph Sprint RS, currently for sale in Taranaki, you might want to know the entire history.

    https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/mot...2542543148.htm

I used to own this bike, and on 26 August 2015 it was destroyed in a rear end collision at the stop sign at Takapu Road, Tawa, Wellington.

At the time I was told by my insurance company that it was not economic to repair and was being deregistered as the frame was deemed to be damaged.

As far as I can see, the VIN number has not changed on this bike, so it appears that the frame has not been changed.

It still has the same registration plate, and has been repaired, and is being sold as completely original, which would suggest it has never been down.

Trust me, it took a fair wallop. I was sitting on it at the time and I flew a fair way.

It would probably be better if dealers didn't try and sell repaired bikes as original, but it's possible that they had no idea. Wellington bike now in Taranaki and all that. I'm a bit pissed that I was lied to though - at the time I was incredulous that the bike was being written off as I could see no frame damage.

And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

With that label and the rims in the background it does look like "professional" premises but I don't recognise it.

Riffer, you could ask the seller some interesting questions.

New Plymouth Motorcycle Centre is the Triumph dealer as well as Suzuki. I zoomed in on the sales sheet on the bike. It had Suzuki at the top of it.

True. I was there yesterday, but the pics don't look like they are taken there. The showroom is high density, packed with bikes. The workshop is a bit of a dungeon downstairs, as are the other New Plymouth dealer workshops.

Maybe a staff member, or friend of, selling privately or something similar? I will be talking to the workshop next week and don't want to piss anybody off, but I may mention a TM ad I've seen...

It seems from the questions on TM that KB has arrived.
