They all need more maintenance, more sealing etc etc. The budget keeps getting spread thinner, then they have clever ideas like taking arterial routes that were hot mix finished on construction, and the first sign of wear, they put chip seal down. It lasted 3 weeks.
If this catches on, you will put me out of a job you will.

My whinge is quite a simple one, and Pete will understand the 3 E's as he's often commented on this way of thinking.

The first E is for engineering, so yeah we're getting better roads built and better vehicles to operate. All moving in right direction.

The second E is for education, so as a trainer/assessor I'm ok with the standard for obtaining a licence moving up. Still quite easy to obtain licence in NZ though, but that's a separate topic.

The third E stands for enforcement, and herein lies my whinge. Simply not enough enforcing of the basics, yep I accept it's a political problem by virtue of not having enough HP crew on the front line. Doesn't help when some of the driving displayed by general duties NZP is hardly leading by example.

But yep, I'm turning into a dinosaur I suppose

...I reckon that peeps should appreciate what we have as a country...appreciate what freedoms we have...appreciate that everyone is different and, that in some other peoples eyes, your absolute principals are shite...which is entirely applicable to the situation...nobody is right, and also never wrong, if the application of that principle were employed in the reply to others interpretations of where their intellect has dropped them off at, then all interactions are fucked from the next reply...a bit like roundabouts really...

So hot on the heels of my last proposal, have you noticed how many LH drive cars there seem to be around these days?

It just doesn't seem safe to allow these guys to drive on the side of the road that the cars just weren't designed for.
    So my
    Proposal is simple. . . .

I think you see where I'm going with this

Just be a little careful coming around corners from now

There's a LHD Fiat Multipla, the ugliest car in history for sale in a local buy and sell. The comments are hilarious.

It amazes me that someone in 2002 went to all the trouble of bringing in such a monstrous car in LHD, clearly someone who lived overseas and brought it with.

If I had the spare money I'd buy it and set fire to it.

Now that is a bit more specific. Asia covers a LOT of countries.

It's pretty obvious a few here on KB need to get over the post WW2 mentality.

Geez guys. I meant they should drive on the RH side of the road.

And give way to the Left.
Except on weekends and public holidays.

I did a road trip a few years ago in one. A RHD one. It was a surprisingly good vehicle for that. Four people and mountainbiking gear for a weekend trip no problem. Yes, the looks are "challenging" but the vehicle very capable...

So, entirely impractical and unenforceable in NZ then.

A recent comment was along the lines of "the best people do things without being told, when others are not looking" or similar. The observation related to people returning their trolleys at the supermarket... There is an increase in lazy cunts not doing this, from my observations.
I like the UK version where you need a gold coin to unlock the trolley, then get it back when you put it back in the rack.
