They will probably have a cm of rust silt in the bottom of the bowls. My Katana did. This is the way of Suzuki tanks of the 80s. To keep it running a clean and seal with a suitable tank sealant is often the path of least frustration. But it must be done properly with right sealant else it cause worse problems.
An in-line filter will not stop this silt. It will however kink the fuel line especially where the tap is so close to the carb inlet. Like a 4 cylinder suzook.
Last time I did one (1983 RG250) I used POR15 tank kit. 1/2 a car kit. Will need to think about drying temps this time of year. A mate used to use an old school electrolux on blow to send warmish air through tank hole in different positions. Dont forget to re poke vent holes in filler hole tube. I forgot on my (88) GS11, and it was a bitch to get last bit in until I realised and found the holes.
Probably a lot of YouTube videos.
And yes, Pete will sort carbs out properly.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

The (JIS head) screw holding the bowls, diaphragm covers and gang rails can be as tight as and difficult to remove without the correct screw driver. I have replaced all of these with socket head screws.
The little O rings on the fittings between the carbs can be bought from a seal and bearing supply place cheap I got 16
16 for about $4 from Seal Imports in Petone
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

top info , thanks a lot. The tank seems ok, I think we lined it when the bike was repurposed!.
I will defy get in touch with Pete, dont mind getting my hands dirty, but carbs are witchcraft.

I have just rebuilt mine, if you get stuck let me know.
To be honest there is not a lot to it, only a few things you need to remember, like turns on the air jet.
Other wise remove, clean and put everything back where it came from.
Have your carbs ultra sonic cleaned... best option.
And do one carb at a time, so the bits go back where they came from.
watch fuel valves, they leak and can fill your crank case with petrol, buy OEM
Air leaks... check for splits in the rubbers and make sure the clamps work.
that is about it!
One for the road...
